School Times & Procedures
At Torbanlea State School, student safety and wellbeing are our highest priority. To ensure all children are safely supervised, please follow the guidelines below regarding arrival, daily routines, and attendance.
Before School Procedures
Staff cannot be held responsible for the safety or wellbeing of children who arrive at school too early.
For this reason, it is strongly advised that children DO NOT arrive before 8:15am.
8:15 am – 8:30 am
Students arriving during this time must go directly to the undercover area behind the Administration Building and sit on the seats provided.
From 8:30 am
All students may choose to go into:
- The Hall, or
- The Lily Pond Room
where staff will provide active supervision.
Morning Routine
8:30 am – 8:55 am
Students participate in supervised morning activities (Wake Up the Dragon).
8:55 am
The first bell sounds. All class teachers will assemble in the Hall, and students will line up in class groups to transition with their teacher.
Students arriving after 8:55 am MUST report to the Office to sign in.
Failure to do so may result in your child being marked absent for the morning session.
Daily Timetable
- 9:00 am – First Learning Session
- 11:00 am – 1st Break (Lunch: Play First, Eat Second)
- 11:45 am – Middle Session
- 1:30 pm – 2nd Break (Afternoon Tea: Play First, Eat Second)
- 2:00 pm – Afternoon Session
- 3:00 pm – End of School Day
Attendance Expectations
Arriving on time sets students up for success. Formal instruction begins promptly at 9:00 am, and students who arrive late often miss important preparation, morning messages, and learning routines.
To support your child’s learning:
- Please ensure they arrive just before, but not later than 8:45 am.
- Consistent punctuality helps students feel settled, confident, and ready for the day.
