Welcome from the Principal

WELCOME TO TORBANLEA STATE SCHOOL

Welcome to Torbanlea State School—a proud, community‑focused school where every child is known, valued, and supported. As Principal, I am honoured to lead a dedicated and passionate team of educators who work together to ensure every student can access a high‑quality education in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

At Torbanlea, our school culture is built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a shared belief that every student can achieve success. We are deeply committed to Queensland’s Brighter Futures: Equity and Excellence for every student, and this commitment is reflected in our strategic priorities: strengthening reading and numeracy, ensuring clarity and consistency in australian curriculum delivery, enhancing differentiation, and embedding a robust Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure both wellbeing and learning for every child.

We pride ourselves on being a small school with big opportunities—where students benefit from personalised learning, strong support systems, and the advantages of a close‑knit community. Our staff implement the Australian Curriculum with integrity and purpose, and we continually invest in teacher expertise through ongoing professional learning. Every teacher at Torbanlea is an Experienced Senior Teacher, bringing skill, compassion, and a genuine love of teaching to every classroom.

Our inclusive approach ensures that all students, including those with additional needs, are supported to participate fully and thrive. We work in partnership with families to ensure learning is personalised, meaningful, and supported by clear communication and shared expectations. We recognise that children learn best when families, school staff, and the wider community work together—and this partnership model sits at the heart of our school identity.

Located in a beautiful rural setting, Torbanlea State School delivers a world‑class education from Prep to Year 6, with strong connections to the Howard Kindy and a comprehensive Prep Transition Program commencing in Semester 2, 2026. We also provide well‑structured transition pathways for our Year 6 students entering secondary schooling in both Maryborough and Hervey Bay, ensuring they step confidently into the next phase of their learning journey.

Every day, our students engage in rich, Australian Curriculum‑aligned learning experiences tailored to meet their individual needs. Guided by our mantra of students, staff, and families growing together to Always Be Our Best, our school fosters a culture where students are encouraged to aim high, work hard, and develop the character and confidence needed for future success.

Our staff is committed to delivering consistent, high‑quality teaching and providing a nurturing environment where all learners are supported academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviourally through our MTSS framework. We take great pride in watching our students build skills, gain knowledge, and discover their unique talents.

Thank you for choosing Torbanlea State School as the provider for your child’s education. We look forward to partnering with you and your family to ensure your child achieves their full potential and becomes an active, responsible, and proud member of our learning community.

I look forward to meeting you and your child/ren.

Warm regards,

Peter Genrich
